July may be full of heat waves and independence, but July is also known as National Anti-boredom month. Children and students are out of daycare and school and may need a pick me up other than their technology and their favorite television shows. Here are some exhilarating activities to keep yourself and the people around you anti-bored
Boredom Buster #1: Backyard Camp Out
This summer night activity is all about setting up camp with your closest friends while staying in the safety and the comfort of your own yard or patio. It could involve something as easy as building your tent and roasting marshmallows on your grill or just have your friends gather to talk about stories and drink some awesome ales and wines! This Boredom Buster can be child friendly but also be made into adult versions to spike anyone’s imagination!
Boredom Buster #2: Game Night Challenge
Everyone on this planet has their favorite board game or card game so why not share it with your friends and family during National Anti-boredom month! My favorite game is the game Aggravation where you move the marbles around the board and overtake other people’s places on the game board depending on the number you receive on the dice. By offering a game night to your family and friends you are inviting them into your home, having the opportunity to catch up on gossip while creating lasting memories for generations to come. This Boredom Buster can again be kid friendly, but also be spiced up with a game like Cards Against Humanity to allure the faintest of minds.
Boredom Buster #3: Summer Bake-Off
Invite your closest friends over for a baking or cupcake decorating afternoon. Inspired by Food Network’s baking shows themselves! This may seem more of a female anti-boredom activity, but males are more than welcome to decorate their own cakes and cupcakes of their own to show what they are really made of! You can do this Boredom Buster with cheap decoration supplies from the Dollar Store and other stores to also make this an affordable activity for all ages.
Boredom Buster #4: Mixology Party
Have all your friends bring their favorite drink mixes, alcohol selections and recipes to have a fun filled night of gossiping and learning new drinks. This party could also have a Barbecue extension that may bring the Happy Drinkers back down to reality and put them in a food comma. This Boredom Buster is an adult function that allows friends to hang lose, get drunk together in the safety of someone’s home, and become the best mixologist on the planet (at least at the party). Just make sure you don’t drink and drive!
Summers can sometimes get boring as an adult or even as a kid, make sure to be adventurous, try new and exciting things, and don’t be afraid to let lose and get your Anti-Boredom Summer Extravaganzas On!
