This past weekend has been a doozie… I got home from work on Friday to find that Busa was not at home, and no one knew he was missing nor when he went missing. I felt like my world was collapsing. I searched for 4 hours with nothing to show for it. There were no clues and as time went on the temperature dropped and so did my hope. I could barely sleep, I couldn’t eat and I couldn’t think. Saturday I posted more online at different places like petharbor.com and helpinglostpets.com. I posted pictures on a Facebook page for Lost pets in Arizona and on my Facebook profile. (If I would have thought about it, I would have posted on Twitter as well.) A friend of mine made flyers and brought them over to put all over the neighborhood. Since I couldn’t sleep Saturday morning I just got up and hit the streets getting those flyers up. Normally I try to do things methodically but this time that was not the case. I didn’t know where I was going or where I was going to put them up. I went up and down the same streets at least a couple times, randomly. I was scanning of any sign of Busa.
When I got home, we had breakfast and we started digging some more. We decided to go to the Humane Society since we couldn’t inquire over the phone. No luck there. Went to the County Animal Shelter, we were waiting in line and I received a call. She found a dog that looked like the one on the flyers we all posted. She wasn’t sure if it was actually him or not but she told me he had no collar (which was rather odd, since he always wears his collar) and that she had seen someone walking him on a leash earlier at the park that she was at. Honestly, who does that? Clearly he is well taken care of, he is well groomed with a shiny coat and well fed. He obviously has a home, don’t take his collar off and try to give him another name. I was more than 30 minutes away so I couldn’t meet this lady to see if it was actually him, but my roommate was at home and was able to see if it was him.
Turns out, it was!! (If I look exhausted in the picture above, it is because I am. I took that right after I got home.) I am more than grateful to have him back in my arms and back in our home. I can’t imagine life without him. I know at some point he is going to have to leave me but not because someone else wants to take him from his family that loves him dearly.
He has pretty much just slept since he got home, chewed on a bone a couple times, and drank a ton of water. But cuddling and sleeping is all he done. It is what he does best so it’s fine, as long as I get to cuddle with him. I hope that this helps anyone that loses a pet. If you do happen to lose your pet, don’t lose hope! It will be hard especially if it goes missing overnight, but it will be okay. They know where home is, and they love their owners.
Here are some helpful links if you have lost a dog:

– good place for posting and also looking to see if anyone has found your pet
Here is another picture of Busa just because. 🙂
