This past weekend was Super Bowl 50 and just so happened to be Chris’ birthday. I was super excited to get to decorate this year since we were actually having a party at our house rather than going to someone else’s. I haven’t done a whole lot of DIY party decorations in the past so I figured this was the perfect time to try something out.
I turned our table into a football field. I originally wanted to use washi tape on the tablecloth but couldn’t find any, anywhere. I ended up using white duct tape. Not what I originally wanted but I made it work since I didn’t really have a choice. I hung a field goal at the end of the table on the wall using yellow poster board that I cut out and then taped yellow balloons to.
I bought some yellow napkins and made a cute little sign that said Penalty Flags. I thought it was a cute little touch to the football field table and helped tie everything together. We had some Super Bowl rings (ring pops), for everyone to take home and even a little football to throw around if they wanted to. So even if the team they were rooting for lost, they still left as a winner! I also added football toppers to the cupcakes.
Last but not least I used some washi tape and created some plays on the wall. I have to say this was my favorite part. I have recently fell in love with washi tape and want to decorate everything I possibly can with it. Especially since we rent, so I can’t just paint the walls like I would like to. I started putting up some prints out to help fill up that wall. Here in a little bit I will be finishing that wall with some more decorative items. Just thought y’all would want to know why there was some random quotes on the wall in the middle of the plays. Just know they are a part of a bigger picture, haha pun intended.
It all worked out so well together and made me so happy! Since the Super Bowl comes around every year I will most likely be using these ideas again next year to some degree at least.
What are some of your ideas for Super Bowl decorations?
