Last weekend a dear friend of mine, Darlene, came to Arizona. She came to visit her old roommate and invited me along to go bike riding in Scottsdale. She didn’t inform me that I needed to have my own bike until right after I left the house to go meet them. It’s okay though, we made the most of it. Made for an interesting day, but we had tons of fun.
We met up at Hula’s Modern Tiki, they were having 2 dollar mimosa’s and they were delicious. Everything they had on the menu sounded amazing! I got there too late to order food, but that was okay I tasted what the girls had ordered and it was super delicious. I will definitely have to go there again.
Our first stop was at the Rusty Spur Saloon, the oldest saloon in Scottsdale, Arizona. It reminded me a lot of Texas, so that made me happy. Good old rustic dive bar, had lots of character and even had live music. If you ever get the chance to go to Scottsdale, I recommend stopping by this place.
Over the years people have been writing on dollars and leaving them on the walls. We decided to contribute to the dollars. I miraculously had a couple dollars cash on me so I slapped a dollar down and we went to town. Kasey wanted to put it in the Bass’s mouth, so that is what we did. Darlene and Kasey put it in the mouth.. got in trouble afterwards but…… they got it up there. My guess is that they probably took it down after closing time.
This is when we got on the bikes to go to the next bar. We should have gotten a picture of it, it was pretty awesome. So we have 3 bikes right? We managed to get 4 people on the 3 bikes. Kasey was awesome enough to be able to let me sit on the bike while she pedaled and steered. We did it two more times and got better each time.
Coach house was a cool, dark bar with seating outside. Perfect for the weather we were having. Sat outside and had a couple of drinks and even made a new friend who just wanted to chat with us. When we got on the bikes this time, Kasey and I managed to get cheers from the bar as we took off. It was pretty hilarious, and awesome.
Our last stop was at Oldtown Gringos, where we played Corn hole and got a pretty good dose of Vitamin D.
We all ate some food and Darlene and Kasey had a little bit of arco fun in front of the sign. My phone was nice enough to let me take a picture before it overheated.
This was only the 2nd time I have made it over to Old Town Scottsdale, but I always have fun and enjoy myself when I am there. Next time I will be bringing my own bike.
And I have successfully started one of my goals that I made at the beginning of the year. I wanted to start exploring Arizona since it is my new home, just to get to know the place. Starting a new chapter so might as well go on some adventures along the way.
