Last year I decided to buy some decorative plates to put on my wall. I had no idea how I was actually going to get them on the wall, but it seemed like a great idea. Months go buy and I still haven’t figured out how to put them up, yay procrastination! What originally popped into my head were those old plate hangers that you see antique plates on, but I didn’t want to be able to see the hanger. Plus I didn’t know if I was going to be able to find one for my large plate. That is when Pinterest got involved. I found ones that stick to the plates so you don’t have to damage the plate at all. But then I found out that people have been using super glue to put items, like paperclips, to the back and hanging them that way. What a great idea! That is when I decided I was going to try it.
Originally I was just going to use paper clips but then Chris brought home these tiny bulldog clips that he thought would work better. Guess what? They did! One of my paperclips didn’t glue on properly so I did the tiny bulldog clip on that one. I used super glue from the dollar store. I was kind of weary about using it since I didn’t know if it would actually work. The consistency of the one that I bought was more like rubber cement than normal super glue. That ended up working in my favor, the only thing is that it took a little bit to dry. I just let them sit overnight to make sure they were all the way dry. The tiny bulldog clips work out better, not only because there is more of a surface for the glue to hold on to, but it also has the perfect angle for hanging with the plates that I used.
So far my plates have been up for a week now and are still holding strong. It was super simple and didn’t take long to put together.
