Sometimes we have issues with getting our day going. Here are some things that I have found that you might be able to use to help jump-start your day.
No Electronics Before Bedtime
This is probably the thing I struggle with the most. There have been multiple articles, like this one, that talk about electronics before bedtime. If you go to sleep without the electronics, not only will you fall asleep faster but you will have a better night’s sleep.
Prep Your Leave The Night Before
Normally part of my winding down before bed is getting my things together for the next day. This helps lower my stress level so when I get up in the morning I am not scrambling to find what I need for work the next day and it gives me time away from the screen. I also use this time..
Get Up At The First Alarm
I am the absolute worst when it comes to my alarms. I constantly hit snooze, because I want those extra 5 precious minutes, but as it turns out I am doing more harm than good. This article shows that you are confusing your body, and that you are actually messing up your internal clock. On a personal note, I have noticed the times that I get up at my first alarm I’m not as tired and I feel more refreshed than if I hit the snooze multiple times.
Make The Bed
About a year ago I watched this video:
It is a little long, but I would make time to at least listen to it. The thing that hit home for me is making your bed. He says it better than I can… “If you make your bed every morning you will have accomplished the first task of the day. It will give you a small sense of pride, and it will encourage you to do another task and another and another. By the end of the day, that one task completed will have turned into many tasks completed. Making your bed will also reinforce the fact that little things in life matter. If you can’t do the little things right, you will never do the big things right.”
I applied this to my life, and I slowly started to change. I became more productive and more positive. That little task did give me a sense of pride, even if Busa (my dachshund), messed it up while I was at work. I was in control of something and I conquered it. I made my bed so I could conquer the world.
The first thing I give my body in the morning is at least 16 ounces of lemon water. It is my small cleanse to start the day. This not only helps me cleanse my body of any small traces of corn in my body, but it helps my metabolism. Gives me a jump start on the inside. Here are 20 Reasons You Should Drink Lemon Water in the Morning.
